Hideki Matsui played for the New York Yankees from 2003 to 2009. During his last year on the team, “Godzilla” hit six of the Yankee’s seven home runs during the World Series. Matsui was the only Japanese player to receive the World Series MVP award, two years after becoming the first Japanese player in MLB history to hit 100 home runs.
松井秀喜は2003年から2009年までニューヨーク・ヤンキースでプレーしました。このチームで過ごした最後の年には、ワールドシリーズでヤンキースが打ったホームラン7本の内、6本を 「ゴジラ」 が打ちました。松井は、100本塁打記録を達成したMLB史上初の日本人選手となり、その2年後、ワールドシリーズのMVPに選ばれた唯一の日本人選手となりました。
