The rich history of cultural diplomacy in the UAE: a conversation with H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh and Dr. Richard Kurin

On Wednesday, August 21, Meridian International Center and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington, D.C. opened a window to the history of cultural diplomacy through a salon luncheon discussion on the UAE as a platform for innovation and growing culture.

Diplomats and cultural diplomacy professionals from across D.C. came together to learn about the rich innovations that have shaped the UAE under His Highness Sheikh Zayed, presented by His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh. Following the Minister Nusseibeh's presentation, guests enjoyed a conversation between the Minister and Dr. Richard Kurin, Ambassador-At-Large for the Smithsonian Institution. The conversation centered around His Highness Sheikh Zayed's vision and the growth that the UAE will experience moving into the future. The  event concluded with a lunch reception.

The discussion was held at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates. Welcoming remarks were done by Dana Al Marashi, Head of Heritage & Social Affairs for the UAE Embassy.
