Meridian Council Reception Celebrating the Upcoming Global Insights Delegation to Portugal

Ambassador Stuart Holliday, Gwen Holliday, Mrs. Paula Duarte Lopes, and Ambassador Francisco Duarte Lopes (Embassy of Portugal).

On April 20th, Portuguese Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Francisco Duarte Lopes and his wife, Mrs. Paula Duarte Lopes, graciously hosted a Meridian Council Reception to celebrate the upcoming Global Insights Delegation and our continued partnership with Meridian x Portugal.

This year, the annual Meridian Global Insights Delegation will be to Portugal and will convene June 5-10, 2023.

This diplomatic delegation provides participants with a unique opportunity and first-hand context of Meridian’s mission of strengthening U.S. engagement with the world through the exchange of people, ideas, and culture. With a core foundation in the rule of law and democratic principles, the United States and Portugal remain critical diplomatic partners.

Starting in Lisbon, and heading north towards Coimbra, Porto, and Braga, the Meridian Global Insights Delegation will dive into the history of Europe’s oldest country by experiencing Portugal’s breathtaking landscape, dynamic society, and rich cultural heritage.

The delegation will also be participating in the 60th Anniversary of the Art in Embassies Program curated by its Director Megan Beyer and the U.S. Department of State, and hosted by the U.S. Ambassador to Portugal, The Honorable Randi Charno Levine.

We are so grateful to everyone who attended the reception and is participating in our mission! If you are interested in learning more about our Meridian Global Insights Delegations, please contact Ellie Warner at ewarner@meridian.org
