IVLP Impact Award Project: SHEE Through Business

SHEE through Business is one of the projects under SHEE. SHEE stands for Social Human Economic Empowerment. It is an empowerment hub that helps individuals to reach empowerment, by going through a journey that includes personal, familial, social, economic and financial empowerment. SHEE through Business targeted women who were looking for financial stability and wished to own a home-based business. The project contained the following phases:

•Preparation and outreach
•Training courses
•Mentorship
•Practical experience exchange with an entity related to the sector of home-based business
•Reporting and follow up

15 women were selected to attend workshops. Through a series of pre-designed workshops and mentorship sessions, these women were able to launch or improve their home-based culinary businesses. Additionally, 8 women were chosen to receive mentorship service and 3 women were chosen to be part of an apprenticeship in a culinary arts academy.  By helping women grow their businesses through practical and technical support, this project improved the business possibilities for women in the culinary industry.

The project activities included selecting beneficiaries, building trainers and mentors pool, designing the program, implementing the training and mentorship activities, partnering with entities for knowledge exchange, follow up and measuring the impact after the program.

This program achieved the following impact:
•Activated women in society and economy
•Enabled women to reach safety and security in their families and businesses
•Created self-sustained home-based businesses
•Had a more sustained families and individuals

The training enriched our managerial and financial knowledge.” - Project Participant
