Project: Establishment of Local Watch Cells for the Fight Against Gender-Based Violence through Community Dialogue

The project was carried out in the prefecture of Kloto, Togo. Its main objective was to contribute to the fight against impunity in cases of gender-based violence. It had three specific objectives: 1) to sensitize 94 administrative and traditional authorities of Kloto on the application of laws relating to gender-based violence; 2) set up three communal watch committees and 3) popularize national law texts that relate to the legal treatment of cases of violence against women and girls. The main activities of this action were an informational tour of local and administrative authorities, the creation of 100 awareness-raising materials and 150 booklets summarizing the laws on gender-based violence, an official launch of the project with authorities present, the organization of three community awareness dialogues and the establishment of three municipal watch committees that raise awareness and manage cases of gender-based violence in the localities.
