The DRC must have strong institutions, which cannot be done as long as corruption has taken up residence in the judicial system. This project is an opportunity to contribute to the construction of the rule of law, which is the basis for the emergence of a country.
This project helped younger generations to become familiar with anti-corruption laws and put them into practice even outside the professional environment. It also helped build the confidence of those who are afraid to report acts of corruption or take legal action when their rights are violated. Since corruption plagues many societies, the objective is to contribute to putting an end to it. The team organized conferences in two local universities as well as workshops and training for a total of 76 legal professionals working towards zero corruption in the legal system.
Harlène was a participant in the IVLP Project Rule of Law and the US Judicial System in 2021, organized by the U.S. Department of State and Cultural Vistas.
Her exchange experience led to the development of her IVLP Impact Award Project: "I had the chance to participate in the IVLP between November and December 2021, an experience that has boosted my life. It gave me the desire to fight against inequalities and to fight for the establishment of the rule of law."
