Tuesday, October 20 at 10:00 A.M. ET

Preparing for the Next Global Health Crisis: The Rise of Antimicrobial Resistance is the next program in our Diplocraft series. This interactive briefing will take place on Tuesday, October 20 from 10:00-11:30 AM EDT and will bring together 20-25 fellow members of the foreign diplomatic corps to engage in a discussion on the challenges of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the global partnerships that are investing in new lifesaving treatments.

In partnership with Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), this program will explore the U.S. national plan for combating drug-resistant infections, examine international alliances working across sectors to bring new antibiotics to the market, and discuss how countries can develop regulatory environments that support innovation. This discussion will not only feature perspectives from leading experts in government and industry, but also provide opportunities for participants to ask questions, share lessons learned from their nations’ experiences, and connect with their counterparts from other countries on mutual strategies and challenges in tackling antimicrobial resistance.

Speakers will include:

Dame Sally Davies, UK Special Envoy on AMR, Master of Trinity College and former Chief Medical Officer for England

Dr. Larry Kerr, Director, Office of Pandemics and Emerging Threats, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Dr. Julie Gerberding, Executive Vice President and Chief Patient Officer, Merck
