White House prioritizes ASEAN-U.S. relationship

On February 14, 2020, the Meridian Corporate Council partnered with PhRMA to host Mr. Nicholas Snyder, Special Advisor for East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific to the Vice President, for a discussion on the Trump Administration's Asia policy. Snyder formerly served as Deputy Director for the U.S. Department of State's China and Mongolia Office, in addition to holding a variety of other positions within the DoS dealing with diplomacy and Asian affairs.

The discussion centered around the 2019 National Security Strategy and the Administration's Indo-Pacific Strategy with its three focus areas of infrastructure, energy and digital connectivity. Even in times of strategic competition, U.S. partnerships with Australia and Japan have become stronger and continue to promote positive economic growth in each country and in America.
