This is Our Land: Discovering America and the World through Original Illustrations from Children’s Books

Meridian International Center partnered with the Library of Congress Center for the Book to present This is Our Land: Discovering America and the World through Original Illustrations from Children’s Books as the fourth installment in a series inspired by children’s picture books. “Exploration of Place” was the theme for this exhibition, and it focused on discovering neighborhoods, learning about nature, exploring local roots, or discovering the world through travel. This installment featured 80 original artworks by well-known illustrators depicting life and natural wonders from the U.S. and 20 countries.

Meridian developed This is Our Land with co-curator Leonard S. Marcus, assistance from state librarians, representatives of the Library of Congress Center for the Book, publishing houses, literacy societies and individual artists.

Other installments of this children’s book series include Exploring the Great Outdoors
