Improving Services for People with Disabilities

The project was designed for seven advocates working to improve services for people with disabilities in the United Arab Emirates. The program focused on three major aspects: early intervention, evaluation, and assessment of people with special needs. While in the United States, the visitors traveled to Baltimore, Maryland; Salt Lake City, Utah; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Boston, Massachusetts, to meet with their professional counterparts. One of the participants’ program highlights was their visit to Salt Lake City where they participated in a half-day workshop facilitated by faculty members from the Special Education program at Westminster College’s School of Education, where the visitors learned practical strategies, including evaluation, assessment, and integration services for providers who work with people with disabilities.
