Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists

In 2014 and 2015, Meridian implemented the Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists. This leadership exchange program brings together top media professionals from around the world to the U.S. to gain first-hand insights into the dynamics of foreign policy, the U.S. political system, and the media. In 2015, for the 10th anniversary of the Edward Murrow Program for Journalists, the media professionals met with several U.S. government leaders, including U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Richard Stengel, as well as world-renowned Associate Editor at The Washington Post Bob Woodward.

Edward R. Murrow Program participants also had the opportunity to:

  • Examine the rights and responsibilities of a free press in a democracy;
  • Observe operational practices, standards and institutions of the media in the United States;
  •  Gain insight into the social, economic and political structures of the U.S.; and
  •  Participate in professional development seminars and an international symposium highlighting current trends and challenges in the media profession, foreign affairs reporting and political affairs coverage.
