U.S. architectural photographers explore the UAE

Invited by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington, D.C. and managed by the Meridian Center for Cultural Diplomacy, a group of architectural photographers, critics, and experts from across the United States participated in a one-week cultural and architectural tour through the Emirates with the goal of sharing the UAE’s history of architecture and urban development and the vibrant arts and culture scene while cultivating stronger connections between U.S. and Emirati professionals working in the architectural and cultural sectors.

Members of the delegation travelled to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ain. Over the course of 7 days, the delegates met with leaders from the UAE’s top cultural institutions and foundations, such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Etihad Museum as well as conduct visits to architectural and heritage sites, such as Burj Khalifa, Masdar City, Museum of the Future and Qasr Al Hosn. The exchange was documented through photographs which will serve as the foundation for an exhibition set to travel through the U.S. in 2020.
