Mr. Tomás Bilbao is a subject matter expert on foreign policy toward Latin America, appearing as a frequent guest on national and international news programs. He served for a decade as the Executive Director of the Cuba Study Group, which had an entrepreneurship exchange program with the island nation. Prior to joining the Cuba Study Group, he served as director of transition for Senator-elect Mel Martinez (R-FL) and director of operations for Mr. Martinez’s Senate campaign. From 2001 to 2003, he served in the administration of President George W. Bush as deputy director of operations at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and as personal aide to Secretary Mel Martinez. Mr. Bilbao has authored papers and articles published in national and international publications, such as the Washington Times, Miami Herald, El Nuevo Herald, and Buenos Aires Herald, and he has appeared as a guest on news programs including CNN, CNN Español, Univision, BBC, Al Jazeera, and Voice of America. He holds a B.A. in International Studies from American University in Washington, D.C., and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
