Sonia Hernandez is a microbiologist and chemical engineer from the Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. She started a collaboration with researchers from Brazil to find potential antimicrobial peptides from natural resources. She is now starting her own company and believes that scientific research, fair trade, and education make a powerful business model which empowers and benefits all of the communities involved. She has a Master’s Degree in Cell Aging and Longevity from the Université Paris VI, France, and worked as a neuroscientist at the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) in France.
