Shannon Kellogg

Vice President - Public Policy, Americas @ Amazon Web Services

Shannon Kellogg is Vice President of Public Policy at Amazon, where he leads the company’s public policy efforts in support of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) business in the Americas.  In this role, he manages public policy and government affairs professionals in the US (at both the federal and state/local levels), Canada, Mexico, South America, Central America and the Caribbean. Kellogg and his team focus on issues such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, data protection, procurement policy, trade and export control policy, tax policy, machine learning, education, workforce development, healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, and energy sector issues.

Prior to joining Amazon in October 2012, Kellogg was Senior Director of Government Affairs for EMC Corporation, serving as the head of the company’s public policy and government affairs office in Washington, DC.  During his nine-year tenure at EMC and RSA (the Security Division of EMC), Kellogg also served as Director of Information Security Policy and Director of Global Government and Industry Affairs.

A 22-year veteran of the technology industry, Kellogg also had senior public policy roles at the Business Software Alliance, the Information Technology Association of America and the Global Internet Project before joining RSA/EMC, and then Amazon. He currently serves as a Board Member of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (https://itif.org/people/board), is a Board Member and Board Secretary of the American Council on Renewable Energy (https://acore.org/board-of-directors/), is a Board Member and Secretary of the Data Center Coalition (https://www.datacentercoalition.org/leadership), and also currently serves as a Visiting Fellow for the National Security Institute at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School (https://nationalsecurity.gmu.edu/fellows/).  Prior to his career in the technology industry, Kellogg was a Program Officer at the International Republican Institute (www.iri.org), focusing on the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and Mongolia.

Kellogg received his Master of Arts in International Transactions from the George Mason University School of Public Policy in Virginia.
