Sara Burback

Program Officer @ Meridian

Sara Burback is a Program Officer in the Meridian Center for Global Leadership currently working on the implementation of the Department of State’s Central and Eastern European Journalism Fellowship program and the Academic Integrity and National Security for Swedish Universities program. She first joined Meridian International Center in March 2020 as a Program Officer for the GlobalConnect Division. Prior to joining Meridian's team, she served as a contract Program Manager at UNRWA USA, where she planned and facilitated its first Relay Run for Refugees for members of Palestine's Right to Movement running team to run from New York City to Washington, DC to advocate on Capitol Hill on behalf of funding for refugee assistance. She has also worked at the United States Energy Association as a Program Coordinator to implement USAID-sponsored exchange study tours for delegates from South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South America to learn best practices in the energy sector.

Sara holds a Master of Arts in International Human Rights from the University of Denver's Korbel School of International Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Los Angeles. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kazakhstan, where she learned Russian, and recently completed a term at the Spanish Language Institute in Puebla, Mexico.
