Rich Schmittgen

Program Coordinator @ Meridian

Rich Schmittgen currently serves as a Program Coordinator within Meridian International Center's GlobalConnect Division. He first joined Meridian as a Program Associate in Fall 2016. In his time at Meridian, he has led many of GlobalConnect's data, analytics, and technology efforts in addition to his work on projects for the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and Foreign Press Center, US Trade Development Agency, and private companies on topics ranging from food safety to American start-up culture. Prior to joining Meridian, he worked as a clerk in the litigation department of one of the largest law firms in North Carolina, and taught English in Mallorca, Spain as part of the Spanish government's North American language and cultural ambassadors program.

Rich graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2013 with a double-major in Political Science and Asian Studies, including a concentration in Chinese. He speaks Mandarin and Spanish, as well as some German.
