Mary Johnson

Mary Johnson is a Senior Program Associate and Staff Exchange Co-Facilitator in the Meridian Center for Global Leadership (MCGL). She holds an M.S. in Public Relations and an M.A. in International Relations from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication where she specialized in Public Diplomacy. During her time at Syracuse, Mary interned with More Europe/The Cultural Relations Platform funded by the European Commission in Brussels. She later interned with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the Bureau of Legislative and Public Affairs supporting the Development Outreach Communicators team prior to joining Meridian.

Mary holds a B.A. in Spanish and a B.A. in Communication from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. During her time at Bellarmine, she volunteered with local ESL groups that primarily engaged with Spanish-speaking communities. She also studied abroad in Spain on several occasions, including at the Universidad de Salamanca. Mary speaks Spanish and has traveled to countries in Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean. Mary currently serves on the Board of Directors as part of the Events Committee for Young Professionals in International Education DC (yPIE DC).
