Mariam Tawadrous is a development professional from Egypt with experience in managing programs about livelihood, employment, job search clubs, soft skills, guidance in the labor market, small business and education. Mariam also works on humanitarian programs that seek to protect and support vulnerable communities and refugees in Egypt.
The project’s goal was to improve the socio-economic status of the youth living in Egypt. The program facilitated the societal integration of youth from different backgrounds by enabling 50 job seekers, aged 18-40, living in greater Cairo by empowering them with the proper knowledge and tools to seek employment. A three-dimensional approach was used that combines career guidance services at the individual level, capacity development of key stakeholders, and encouraging skill development. All activities were carried out in coordination with community centers and community leaders. The program enabled participants to pursue better opportunities in the Egyptian labor market through gaining effective job placement skills.
Mariam was a participant in the IVLP Project NGO Management III organized by the U.S. Department of State and Meridian International Center.
Mariam's exchange experience led to the development of her IVLP Impact Award Project: "Through the IVLP program, I gained many experiences, including familiarizing myself with the United States government, networking with colleagues about their communities and their roles, acquiring information about project management. IVLP helped inspire me to create the idea of for project."
