Lydia Hamilton joined Meridian International Center as a Program Officer for GlobalConnect's Central Asian Journalism programs in December 2018.  She previously worked at the Institute of International Education (IIE) developing cross-organization application and selection procedures and as a Program Officer for a suite of Department of Defense-sponsored critical language programs. Lydia was awarded an Alfa Fellowship in 2014 to support a year of professional experience in Moscow, Russia, where she was placed at the Higher School of Economics. Prior to this, she worked at Columbia University’s Harriman Institute for the study of Russia and Eurasia and served as Executive Director of the Association for the Study of Nationalities, a scholarly association devoted to the study of ethnicity and nationalism from Europe to Eurasia. Lydia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Slavic Studies from Brown University and a Master of Arts in Regional Studies: Russia, Eurasia, and Eastern Europe from Columbia University. She speaks Russian and some Polish, French, and Spanish.
