YLAI Professional Fellows Program, Class of 2016

Dr. La-Tonia Arthur is the Founder and Director of Gentle Beginnings Daycare, Inc., which began in September 2015. She is also a Registrar in the Accident and Emergency Department of Barbados’ lone public hospital. Gentle Beginnings Daycare has a mission to create a literacy-rich environment where children can start and continue their life-long journey. They incorporate a healthy lifestyle education in their curriculum and hope to be the catalyst for health reform in Barbados. La-Tonia earned two degrees from the University of the West Indies (Mona Campus), as well as a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Medicine (Bachelor of Surgery). She has been practicing medicine for the past six years and aspires to be a pediatric emergency medicine physician.
