Katie Conti

Katie Conti serves as a Program Coordinator in the Meridian Center for Global Leadership. She primarily works on the Pan Africa Youth Leadership Program (PAYLP), a U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Youth Exchange Program. She recently managed the implementation of the first-ever PAYLP Virtual Alumni Reunion and continues to support cross-divisional intern/fellow and communications efforts as well as Strategic Planning, Virtual Programs, & Business Development working groups. She first joined Meridian as Special Assistant to the Vice President of the GlobalConnect Division in March 2019 and supported the implementation of Meridian’s inaugural Corporate Diplomacy Professional Development Program. In Washington, Katie previously supported executives and strategic planning and development teams at the Brookings Institution and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Throughout her time at Syracuse, she provided program support at the Near East Foundation, which leads capacity-building efforts and sustainable development initiatives in communities throughout Africa and the Middle East. As a U.S. Department of State intern, Katie supported the Bureau of Public Affairs, Office of International Media Engagement’s Africa Regional Media Hub in Johannesburg, South Africa. Katie also served as a Student Ambassador to the USA Pavilion at EXPO 2015, the Universal Exposition (World’s Fair) held in Milan, Italy. In this role, she led VIP delegations of business executives, congressional representatives, diplomats, and heads of state, in addition to supporting the pavilion’s cultural and public diplomacy efforts to engage up to 60,000 international visitors per day.

Katie received a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, Public Communication, and Geography from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication. She spent her first semester of college at Syracuse University in Florence, Italy, and additionally studied in Saint-Louis, Senegal, and Paris, France. She speaks French and Italian, as well as some Russian, Spanish, and Wolof. Katie is a Rising Professional member of the Public Diplomacy Council and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Young Professional Network of the Women’s Foreign Policy Group.
