Gerardo Torres

Program Manager, Foreign Press Center Programs @ Meridian

Gerardo Torres joined Meridian International Center in December 2019 as a Program Manager for the GlobalConnect Division's Foreign Press Centers Programs (FPC). During his tenure at Meridian, Gerardo has supported the FPC to transition to virtual programs due to COVID-19 by launching the first Elections Virtual Reporting tour for the 2020 United States elections.

Before joining Meridian, Gerardo worked as a Program Officer with the Innovation for Change initiative at Counterpart International, where he coordinated the activities throughout Latin America and the Caribbean and supported the organization of training courses, workshops, and conferences around the world. Gerardo has wide-ranging experience in the international development, research, and journalism sectors. He previously worked as a journalist in the Northern Triangle of Central America, Spain, and the United States and has conducted Design Thinking workshops in over five countries. He also served as an intern at CSIS and the Cato Institute, two of Washington DC's most prestigious think tanks.

Gerardo has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. He is currently pursuing his master's in business administration (MBA) part-time at Georgetown's University McDonough School of Business. He is fluent in English and Spanish and has basic knowledge of Portuguese.
