Dorothy Behre

Program Officer, IVLP @ Meridian

A specialist in Chinese language and culture, Dorothy Behre joins Meridian after serving as a Program Manager and Researcher at the American Mandarin Society (AMS), where she published a weekly Chinese policy newsletter. At AMS, Dorothy designed and implemented several initiatives, including the online course "Chinese for Effective Professional Engagement," the AMS Next-Generation Scholars Program, and the Chinese Speaker Series. Earlier in her career, as a translator and executive assistant at Harves Group, a Chinese real estate, entertainment and investment company, Dorothy provided logistical support and Chinese-English interpretation for numerous international delegations.

Dorothy holds a bachelor's degree in Chinese and English Literature from Clemson University Honors College and a master's degree in International Communications from National Chengchi University in Taiwan. Her previous U.S. government exchange experience includes interning at the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) to host a trade mission delegation from Montana and serving as a Fulbright Grantee in Taiwan where she taught English and fostered cultural exchange within local schools and communities.
