His Excellency Aung Lynn has served as Ambassador to the United States at the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar since 2016. Prior to his appointment, he was the Permanent Secretary and DirectorGeneral of the ASEAN Affairs Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has also held posts as Director of the Myanmar Department of Protocol, Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Myanmar to the United Nations, and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Myanmar Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, among other public service positions. He graduated from Yangon University in 1979 and earned his Master of Public Policy from the Ntaional University of Singapore in 1996. He has participated in various regional and international forums including the UN, ASEAN and Asia Cooperation Dialogue, and accompanied the Myanmar President and Minister for Foreign Affairs on many bilateral visits. His awards include the Outstanding Public Service Medal, State Peace and Tranquility Medal, and the Law and Order and Rule of Law Medal.
