Altynai Baibachaeva

Program Coordinator @ Meridian

Altynai Baibachaeva currently serves as a Program Coordinator in the Meridian Center for Global Leadership where she primarily works on the Central Asia Media Exchange program (CAMEX). She first joined Meridian International Center in May 2020 as a CAMEX intern. 

Altynai holds a master’s degree in International Development Studies from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. Originally from Kyrgyzstan, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Bentley University in Massachusetts. Before graduate school, she was working as an Information Program Coordinator at the Soros-Foundation Kyrgyzstan (also known as Open Society Foundation), which worked towards three main initiatives: providing open access to education resources,  popularization of IT skills for youth economic advancement, and building engagement between citizens and the government by developing Civic tech tools. She was also responsible for the program's budget allocation, logistics arrangement, and organization of grant contests. Altynai previously interned with the Embassy of Kyrgyz Republic in Washington, DC, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), both in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

She speaks Russian, Kyrgyz, English, and some Turkish.
