IVLP Impact Award Project: Anouanze 225

The presidential elections of 2000, 2010, 2016 and 2020 were punctuated by political and social violence marked by community clashes causing the destruction of public and private property, causing injuries and deaths. The localities of Yamoussoukro, Korhogo, M’Batto, Dueukoué and Bonoua were not spared by this situation. This frequent situation constitutes an obstacle to the stability and to the sustainable and harmonious development. In order to further strengthen the social fabric and contribute to lasting peace, Achille has developed the Anouanze 225 program in the area of Bonoua.

The project aimed to prevent the resurgence of inter-community conflicts and electoral crises through community mechanisms, capacity building and sensitization of young people in Bonoua, Côte d'Ivoire. The project promoted civic and democratic values, cultural diversity, peace and social cohesion. The capacities of participants from different ethnic, political and religious groups were trained to understand the aforementioned themes to make them responsible citizens. This 3-day initiative had a high level of interactivity and brought together 239 young people to build capacity on issues of peace, social cohesion, and good citizenship. Additionally, 109 participants carried out a sanitation operation in a local sports complex which involved a symbolic planting in the 3 districts of Bonoua and the painting of the facade of the Sports Complex.

A permanent framework of discussion between the different communities was produced and slogans that convey messages of peace will be disseminated to the community after the project concludes.
