Meridian Creates Private Sector Cabinet of Advisers with 5 New Corporate Working Groups

February 17, 2023 | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C. – On February 10, 2023, Meridian International Center officially launched their Corporate Council Working Groups during a Global Business Briefing with Dilawar Syed, Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.

Meridian will create five industry and thematic Working Groups, comprised of the private sector and business representatives, to discuss common and shared issues of concern. Each group will be chaired by one representative of the Meridian Corporate Council and meet twice over the course of each year. The purpose of these groups will be to help inform senior government officials, including Special Representative Syed, on the key issues of importance to the U.S. private sector. We plan to invite S/R Syed back to Meridian in September 2023 for a listening session with the Meridian Corporate Council to hear from the Working Groups.

These five groups will be Energy; Health; Supply Chains & Critical Minerals; U.S. Business Competitiveness; AI, Emerging Technology, and Digital Transformation. Each theme was chosen due to its strategic importance to the United States government and private sector priorities.

The Meridian Corporate Council provides a platform for exchange, dialogue and networking on key global issues among diplomatic, public, private and non-profit sector leaders. Through this exchange, members are better equipped to navigate critical challenges and opportunities in a complex international environment. Drawn from wide-ranging sectors, member companies and organizations represent major corporations that are leaders in corporate social responsibility and international initiatives.
