Meridian Exchange: March 2022

DIPLOMACY IN ACTION

On April 12, Meridian will be hosting our annual Diplomacy Forum focusing on Statecraft in the Evolving Frontiers: Ocean, Arctic and Space featuring Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, Vice President of International Affairs at International Circumpolar Council Lisa Koperqualuk and CEO of Lockheed Martin Jim Taiclet to name a few. The program will be held in-person and virtually for a global audience – you can learn more about attending here.

As part of our DiplomacyRISE initiative, an inclusive program that aims to cultivate the next generation of U.S. diplomats that reflect America’s diversity, we’re teaming up with Global Community College Transfers and Community Colleges for International Development to offer a mentorship program this summer. Apply by April 12 here and read more on the importance of recruiting from community colleges here.

CELEBRATING WOMEN IN DIPLOMACY

March was Women’s History Month and we celebrated by honoring the accomplishments of women in diplomacy around the world from the late Secretary Madeleine Albright to members of the Meridian Corporate Council. This month we've showcased Meridian’s commitment to championing the empowerment of women and girls by collaborating with Hologic to host “The Future of Global Women's Health and Equity” and are implementing the U.S. Department of State's annual International Women of Courage (IWOC) International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The IWOC Award recognizes women from around the world who have demonstrated exceptional courage, strength and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equity and equality, and the empowerment of women and girls.

united with ukraine

As part of the Transatlantic Speaker Program, Meridian has hosted the "United with Ukraine" series in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State over the past two months. The series seeks to deepen the discussion and understanding on supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity; celebrating Ukraine’s unique identity and culture; reaffirming the benefit and value of democratic principles and institutions; and exposing Russia’s destabilizing actions and disinformation. You can learn more about the series here.
