Each year, the Sikh American community in California gathers to observe Vaisakhi, the harvest festival, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. At the large social event, Sikhs and fellow Californians partake in seva (community service), langar (meal), kirtan (singing shabads), a parade, and contemplation of the Guru’s message. The photographer, who attends with family and friends, says, “I have been going for as long as I can remember.”
