<p>U.S. companies helped to build the infrastructure of many of its allies. One such example is the Hawkesbury River Railway Bridge project, which linked several of Australia’s major railway systems. The Union Bridge Company of New York contracted Ryland & Morse of Chicago to produce the ironwork for the bridge, which was eventually replaced by the current structure in 1946.</p>
