Video Production Fellowship

Meridian’s Communications Team is responsible for increasing the organization’s brand awareness and positive public perception as Washington, DC’s most established diplomatic and global leadership institution that strengthens U.S. engagement with the world and accelerates collaboration among emerging leaders through cultural, educational and training programs. Using digital, social and traditional media platforms, the Communications Team develops integrated marketing strategies to spotlight Meridian’s international delegations, mission-driven events and cultural initiatives.

Meridian seeks a Video Production Fellow who is proficient in video shooting and production with a primary focus on harnessing creative strengths to tell Meridian’s story through visual, interactive media across digital and print platforms to engage a wide variety of audiences.


  • Drive all aspects of visual communications, including video, photo and graphic storytelling
  • Manage end-to-end process from storyboarding to logistics to shooting to editing and publishing
  • Lead video shoots and audio productions serving as camera operator, video editor, interviewer, lighting coordinator and audio recording operator as necessary and assigned
  • Produce high-quality visual media for website and social media that demonstrate technical sophistication and succinctly and clearly convey an important organizational or programmatic message
  • Event staffing (including some mornings and evenings) and multimedia coverage through filming, livestreaming and photography
  • Archive and catalog various video, photo and audio assets
  • Work with digital communications lead to conceptualize templates for social media posts, and create graphics for social media and marketing collateral
  • Assist with organizational brand refresh and marketing efforts across print materials and digital platforms
  • Create infographics and other data visualization projects
  • Work flow expectation: produce one 2-3 minute video each week, on average, in addition to other multimedia


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in video/multimedia journalism, photojournalism, film/video production, integrated media, graphic design/animation; technical education or certifications is a plus
  • Expertise with video production, writing for video, photography, graphic and publication design, multimedia content creation and delivery, data visualization, camera and lights operation, non-linear video editing and image processing; motion graphics and interactive media is a plus.
  • Practiced user of social media and new media platforms
  • Strong planning and project management skills, with ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, work in a fast-paced environment, and deliver fast turnaround on deadline
  • Team-oriented and ability to work independently and in an office setting
  • Flexible and willing to take on tasks outside primary responsibilities
  • Interest in international affairs and diplomacy preferred but not required


Adobe Creative Cloud: Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other multimedia applications is a plus; WordPress and web coding (HTML, CSS, PHP); YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn; Microsoft Office 365; mobile app and publication design, including layout, use of color, and typography is a plus.

Preference will be given to candidates with 24-32 hours per week with availability through January 1. Fellows are paid on an hourly basis. Start and end dates are negotiable.
