Understanding Washington: U.S. Foreign Assistance

Monday, November 15 | 8:00AM-10:00 AM ET

How do you understand the U.S. government and foreign diplomats’ roles in foreign assistance? What perspectives can you bring to the table on assessing development funding on key policy issues including democratic resilience, health, combating climate change, and issues that are unique to your expertise. This is an opportunity to build lasting relationships and share lessons learned from past partnerships.

Meridian is honored to be joined by Director of the Office of Foreign Assistance at the U.S. State Department Dr. Dafna H. Rand and Regional Director for the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Eurasia, and East Asia at the U.S. Trade Development Agency Carl B. Kress who will provide framing remarks, laying the foundation for small-group roundtable conversations, which will allow attendees to offer their perspectives and exchange ideas on best practices for engagement. If participating virtually, participants will also go into virtual breakout groups in Zoom and exchange ideas with those attending in person.

A light breakfast will be served at 8:00 AM and the program will run from 8:30 to 10:00 AM.
