Exploring the Role of Think Tanks in Washington

Wednesday, June 16 | 10:00-11:30 AM EDT

Think tanks play a unique role in the American public policy process. As independent policy research institutions, they provide roadmaps for action on domestic and international issues that help educate the public and inform government decisions.

“Exploring the Role of Think Tanks in Washington,” the next program in our Diplocraft series will provide attendees with an overview of how think tanks have shaped public policy and global engagement, examine the ways in which these institutions work with the legislative and executive branches, and explore how U.S. think tanks differ from those in other countries. Remarks by experts on the think tank landscape will serve to inform and spark small breakout group conversations. This interactive briefing will allow attendees to ask their questions to representatives across the think tank spectrum, discuss how embassies can best utilize think tank services and resources, and explore partnership opportunities.

Speakers Include:

  • Lisel Loy, Senior Vice President, Bipartisan Policy Center
  • Will Bohlen, Managing Director, Cogent Strategies
  • Enrique Mendizabal, Founder and Director, On Think Tanks
