Position Title: Fellow, Meridian Center for Diplomatic Engagement
Compensation: $15.00 per hour
Location: Washington, D.C.
Reports To: Melody Wei, Associate Program Manager, Meridian Center for Diplomatic Engagement

 Purpose and Description

Meridian International Center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan diplomacy center that connects leaders through culture and collaboration to drive solutions for global challenges. Founded 60 years ago, Meridian works with governments, the private sector and the diplomatic community to develop exchange, training, culture and convening programs to help leaders better address global challenges and opportunities

Essential Functions
  • Support the MCDE team in the implementation and execution of the Spring 2021 slate of convening programs
  • Manage audience/attendee outreach and engagement for monthly programs – research potential attendees, disseminate invitations, track RSVPs, issue reminders and extend thank you letters
  • Prepare internal and external briefings and program materials
  • Research issues, organizations and leaders as related to the slate of Spring 2020 convenings
  • Assist with enrichment of Salesforce database, providing up-to-date contact information and relationship details for MCDE network
  • Contribute written content and curate photo galleries of events for Meridian’s blog, social media platforms and/or website
  • Assist with other Meridian events as needed

Desired Skills & Qualifications
  • Working toward or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree focused on International Studies/Affairs or a similar field
  • Interest and familiarity with online research tools
  • Knowledge of general office procedures
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Computer proficiency in Windows based applications including Microsoft Word and Excel is mandatory
  • Prior experience with CRMs such as Salesforce a plus
  • Prior experience with email marketing services such as MyEmma or Pardot a plus
  • Graphic design experience desired but not necessary

Environment and Scheduling
  • Meridian Fellows are limited to a maximum 29 hours per week
  • Interest in working with an international not-for-profit
  • Interest in working within a diverse work environment
  • This position will start virtually, with the possibility of in-person events that may require staffing. All decisions for in-person work will follow the health and safety guidelines put forth by the government of Washington, DC.

This position is classified FLSA non-exempt.
