Summary of Position:

The Manager, Human Resources is a generalist position that works closely with all members of the Human Resources team as well as with staff throughout the organization. This generalist role is responsible for managing functional areas of human resources, including benefits administration, performance management, recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, and payroll.

This position is located in Washington D.C. and Meridian requires MD, DC, or VA residence for all employees. The position may work partially remotely until further notice. Effective January 4, 2022, all Meridian staff are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, unless a reasonable medical or religious accommodation is approved.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day administration of Meridian employee benefit plans; make recommendations for benefit plan changes; work with brokers to ensure that vendor issues are resolved quickly; manage open enrollment process.
  • Complete administrative details related to Human Resources including, but not limited to scheduling appointments, orientations, trainings, conference calls; coordinating meeting logistics; preparing meeting materials; working with IT to ensure equipment delivery for all new hires.
  • Support audit requirements by providing required documentation and testing support data to complete audits in a timely manner (retirement, financial and workers comp).
  • Manage timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll. Ensure accurate accounting, record keeping and day to day processing including leave processes and coordination with the finance and accounting team.
  • Manage, develop, and provide new hire orientation for all new employees and fellowship staff.
  • Monitor performance management process and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Administer various human resources procedures for all employees; recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to ensure continuous improvements in efficiency of department and services performed as well as updates to the employee handbook when necessary.
  • Manage the processing and verification of vendor invoices.
  • Maintain personnel records and compile reports when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations concerning employment, payroll, and benefits.
  • Responsible for completing all organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely manner and meeting all organizational administrative deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of direct human resources experience
  • HRCI or SHRM certifications preferred
  • Experience with Paylocity preferred, including HRIS, payroll, recruiting, performance management, onboarding, learning, time & labor, benefits, and community modules.
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations a plus.

Technical Requirements:

Proficiency in the following software programs is necessary for this role:

  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Internet Browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer)
  • Payroll and HRIS systems
