Just Energy: In Pursuit of a Fair Global Energy Transition Balance

Wednesday, June 23rd | 11:00-12:15 PM ET

“Just Energy: In Pursuit of a Fair Global Energy Transition Balance,” the next program in our Diplocraft series. The Biden administration has prioritized building and engaging with a global coalition of nations on carbon emission reductions, renewable energy, and other climate change policies as illustrated by the Leaders’ Climate Summit held in April. This is of particular importance for the global transition to renewable energies as each country is faced with their own unique reality. For many developing nations, natural gas is a vital tool to efficiently lift communities out of poverty while others will depend on it as a key fuel source through 2050 to ensure their own economic stability. How can we reach necessary world climate goals, while also taking the natural gas needs of these nations into account? This program will bring together energy secretaries from the previous two administrations alongside international voices to explore a global energy transition path that delivers across the competing objectives of environmental sustainability, economic development and growth, and energy security and access. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions during the program and learn more about how leaders in government and international voices approach achieving an equitable energy transition.
