International Visitor Leadership Program Fellowship

Position Title: International Visitor Leadership Program Fellowship
Compensation:  $15 per hour
Location: Washington, D.C.
Reports To: Senior Program Associate and Fellowship Coordinator, Professional Exchanges Division   

Purpose and Description

Meridian International Center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan diplomacy center that connects leaders through culture and collaboration to drive solutions for global challenges. Founded 60 years ago, Meridian works with governments, the private sector and the diplomatic community to develop exchange, training, culture and convening programs to help leaders better address global challenges and opportunities

The IVLP fellows will work closely with the Professional Exchanges Division (PED) staff to administer the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) – the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience the U.S. firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts while on the IVLP.

The fellowship is available for current undergraduate students.

Essential Functions

  • Provide logistical support to facilitate the International Visitor Leadership Program
  • Attend meetings with program participants throughout Washington, D.C.
  • Create and assemble welcome materials for U.S. Department of State International Visitors
  • Assist Professional Exchanges Division staff with program book writing, cultural events research, and a variety of long-term and independent projects.

Other duties and special projects as assigned

Desired Skills & Qualifications
  • Commit 20-29 hours per week to the Fellowship
  • Be able to work on Mondays and either Thursday or Friday

  • Meridian Fellows are limited to a maximum 29 hours per week

This position is classified FLSA non-exempt.
