Summary of Position:

Under the supervision of the Senior Coordinator, A/V the A/V Specialist will prepare and set up A/V equipment for Meridian events. In addition, provide as needed A/V and other IT related technical support.

This position is located in Washington D.C. and Meridian requires MD, DC, or VA residence for all employees. The position may work partially remotely until further notice.  The position requires flexible hours and some evenings/weekends.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Set up and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for meetings, presentations, and live events.
  • Conduct sound, visual, and performance quality checks on A/V equipment prior to start of meeting.
  • Track and maintain A/V equipment inventory.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance for A/V equipment during meetings and events.
  • Maintain A/V documentation procedures, standards, best practices, and installations.
  • Routinely execute updates for A/V equipment and software applications and systems
  • Participate in A/V hardware and software evaluations/reviews and recommend purchases.
  • Support IT as needed to include providing oversight of IT support vendors, responding to helpdesk calls, and resolve questions and issues
  • Responsible for completing all organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely manner and meeting all organizational administrative deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Two years of A/V or other relevant IT support experience
  • Experience in operations for a not-for-profit organization a plus
  • Or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of audio and visual equipment and operations
  • Excellent understanding of computer systems, network, and systems administration
  • Understanding of project management principles
  • Knowledge of day-to-day IT operations with excellent computer and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to details and ability to solve problems is a must
  • Able to prioritize and multitask effectively
  • Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills including the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information securely
  • Strong inter-cultural communication skills; maturity, cultural sensitivity, and tact suitable for working with individuals from around the world

Technical Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 11, Office 365, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams), Zoom and ZoomRoom is necessary for this role
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro and DC
  • Experience with all internet browsers
  • Canva, Zoom and/or Salesforce experience is helpful

Physical Effort and Dexterity

  • Ability to lift, move, and carry boxes up to 50 pounds for receiving, packing, and shipping.
