Summary of Position

The Associate Program Manager is responsible for day-to-day planning and management of Center convening programs within several different formats from roundtable conversations and fire-side chats to panel discussions and networking receptions. This includes each phase of the event process from conception and design to production and post-event deliverables. The Associate Program Manager supervises Center fellows and contributes to written content for Meridian’s website and social media platforms. This position is located in Washington, D.C. but will work remotely until further notice. D.C., Maryland, or Virginia residency is required.

Position Responsibilities

  • Execution of Center convening programs – to include generation of timely and germane themes, creation of effective and interactive formats and securing thought-provoking and influential speakers.
  • Fully prepare speakers, liaise with program partners, and coordinate with Meridian logistics team in advance of program.
  • Produce/support day-of program implementation – to range from stage or virtual production and staffing plan to registration, notetaking and stakeholder management.
  • Contribute to audience management - identify appropriate guests, create and disseminate invitations, track RSVPs, issue reminders and thank you letters.
  • Oversee recruitment, training and supervision of fellow(s) to enable them to effectively contribute to team goals and responsibilities.
  • Maintain and enrich Salesforce database with up-to-date contact and relationship details for all diplomatic engagement speakers, attendees, and connections.
  • In collaboration with Center Vice President and Associate Director, conduct research and create convening program proposals for potential corporate and foundation partners.
  • Create content for digital and print highlighting convening programs – to include composition of short reports summarizing key points and main takeaways, curation of photo galleries, preparation of social media posts, and posting to website using WordPress.
  • Cultivate and expand Meridian’s network of Washington influencers and decision-makers with an emphasis on foreign diplomats, Congressional staff members, government officials and business executives.
  • Track and maintain budget for Center events.
  • Responsible for completing all organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely manner and meeting all organizational administrative deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Personnel Management:
  • Provides leadership, direct supervision and support to Meridian. Staff positions that  report to the Associate Program Manager include:
    • Center for Diplomatic Engagement Fellow(s)


  • Undergraduate degree; focus on international studies, political science, public policy or similar field preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.


  • 3-5 years of nonprofit, U.S. government/Hill, program or event support experience.
  • Experience with roles, responsibilities and functions of international diplomatic corps based in Washington, DC.

  • Internet Browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer)
  • Salesforce
