Summary of Position

The Development Associate works with the Development and Corporate Relations teams in providing administrative support for all development-related programs and events across the organization.

This position is located in Washington D.C. and Meridian requires MD, DC, or VA residence for all employees. The position may work partially remotely until further notice. Effective October 1, 2021, all Meridian staff engaged in on-campus or in-person Meridian activities are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, unless a reasonable medical or religious accommodation is approved.

Position Responsibilities

  • Draft, send and track development correspondence including speaker invitations, event invitations, and thank you notes.
  • Process all corporate, individual, and foundation gifts including tracking in Salesforce, creating batch reports for Finance, and drafting and mailing gift acknowledgements.
  • Regular maintenance/cleaning of donor records in Salesforce.
  • Create and pull development reports in Salesforce.
  • Process vendor procurement and payments.
  • Credit card reconciliation for senior development team members in Concur.
  • Support and staff events in coordination with External Affairs team.
  • Update and track all Development and Corporate Relations Team events in the master internal calendar, external calendar, and website.
  • Keep event websites updated with accurate event and sponsor information.
  • Assist with communications for Development programs including writing event briefs and content for the website, compiling information for the Annual Report and periodic newsletters, drafting social media posts, and taking photos.
  • Conduct prospect research and create philanthropic partner giving profiles.
  • Outreach to philanthropic partners as directed while providing excellent stewardship.


  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of increasing responsibility and experience, preferably in a non- profit development or fundraising
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams is necessary for this role
  • Experience with Canva, Concur, iWave, Linvio, Zoom and/or Pardot preferred

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Understanding and interest in non-profit development and fundraising
  • Knowledge and experience working in Salesforce.
  • Exceptional writing skills - experience writing a variety of forms of correspondence including solicitation letters, thank you notes and
  • Familiarity with organizing and staffing
  • Excellent phone and interpersonal
  • Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented and proven ability to  prioritize multiple concurrent
  • Strong inter-cultural communication skills; maturity, cultural sensitivity, and tact suitable for working with individuals from around the world
