Summary of Position

Meridian International Center seeks an Associate, Corporate Relations to support the Corporate Relations Team with business development initiatives and private sector programming.

The Associate will work on Meridian’s corporate relations team on supporting development activities and private sector program development, with a focus on corporate fundraising. Under the supervision of the Vice President, Corporate Affairs, the Associate, Corporate Relations works with the Development and Corporate Relations team within the External Affairs division at large in providing administrative support for all development related programs and events with the organization, including preparing program documents, stakeholder engagement and outreach, and donor tracking in the Salesforce database. This position is located in Washington D.C. and Meridian requires MD, DC, or VA residence for all employees. The position may work partially remotely until further notice.  In addition, Meridian requires all staff engaged in on-site or in-person activities to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 effective October 1, 2021.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support private sector events management by sending invitations, tracking RSVP’s, coordinating logistics, preparing materials and provide day-of staff support
  • Draft, send and track all development correspondence including proposals, solicitation letters and mailings, invoices, thank you notes, receipts as well as donor and event briefings
  • Assist with managing Meridian Corporate Council membership by tracking all donor and prospect correspondence as well as pledge and payment status in Salesforce
  • Serve as a primary Salesforce database and website point of contact for the Corporate Relations team within the External Affairs division
  • Track funds received in Salesforce and liaises with Finance team to ensure consistent and accurate inputting
  • Create and maintain development lists in Salesforce database for prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship activities
  • Assist with communications efforts around Development programs including writing program summaries and content for the website and newsletters, drafting social media posts, update website etc.

Education/Experience

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 1-2 years of increasing responsibility and experience, preferably in a non-profit development or fundraising operation
  • Or, any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams is necessary for this role
  • Experience with Canvas, Zoom and Salesforce is helpful 

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Understanding and interest in non-profit development and fundraising activities
  • Knowledge and experience working with the Salesforce database, or similar CRM database
  • Event planning and customer service experience; familiarity with staffing events
  • Exceptional writing skills; experience writing a variety of forms of correspondence including solicitation letters, thank you notes, briefings
  • Excellent phone and interpersonal skills; must show tact and discretion due to constant engagement with high-level government, diplomatic, and business officials
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize between short term and long-term projects
  • Familiarity and comfort with online research and marketing tools
  • Strong inter-cultural communication skills; maturity, cultural sensitivity, and tact suitable for working with individuals from around the world
