Executive Conversation with the Economic Club of Washington, DC

On Friday, May 8, 2015, Meridian hosted the Economic Club of Washington, DC for an installment of the group’s Executive Conversation Breakfast series. These high-level, closed door discussions offer Economic Club members with exclusive, expert insights on industry trends and developments.

For this program, Meridian featured its partnership with Gallup on the Global Leadership Project, which brings U.S. and international experts together to examine worldwide perceptions of wellbeing and leadership. Meridian Trustee and Managing Director of the Gallup World Poll, Jon Clifton, presented the latest data from the sixth annual report, Rating World Leaders: What People Worldwide Think of the U.S., China, Russia, the EU and Germany. Mr. Clifton and Amb. Stuart Holliday, Meridian President and CEO, provided perspectives and analysis on the current world opinion landscape for U.S. leadership, as well as the leadership of other major powers across the globe.

Following welcomes and introductions from Mary Brady, Executive Director for the Economic Club of Washington, DC, and Brian Kelly, Editor and Chief Content Officer for US News and World Report, the assembled group of business and thought leaders engaged in lively conversation with Mr. Clifton and Amb. Holliday on the report’s findings. Of particular interest were the dynamic shifts across Europe and Africa, as well as the comparison between domestic and foreign approval ratings for President Obama and President Putin.
