A Carnival of Animals, Beasts, Birds, and Bugs in Original Illustrations from Children’s Books

Meridian, along with the Mazza Museum in Findlay, Ohio, created A Carnival of Animals: Beasts, Birds and Bugs in Original Illustrations from Children's Books. This collection of 80 illustrations by both American and international artists featured depictions of walking, swimming, crawling, and flying creatures from around the world. This was the second in a series of exhibitions based on children’s book illustrations. It contained works by artists famous for their contributions to children's literature, as well as representations by illustrators from other countries, and examples drawn from the Mazza Museum’s historic holdings.

This exhibition was co-curated by Dr. Jerry Mallett, from the Mazza Museum, and Nancy Matthews, former Vice President of Arts and Cultural Programs at Meridian.

Other installments of this children’s book series include Exploring the Great Outdoors, This is Our Land, and Once Upon a Page.
