Jeffrey Malinak is a Managing Principal at Analysis Group, Inc., one of the largest economic consulting firms in the United States. He is an expert in financial economics with particular expertise in damages estimation, applied finance theory, and business and asset valuation. For more than 25 years, Mr. Malinak has led consulting engagements in which he and his team have addressed economic, financial and accounting issues that arise in connection with large, complex civil litigation cases, usually supporting both internal and external affiliated experts in presenting their findings at deposition and trial. Mr. Malinak also has served as an expert witness. In that role, he has provided deposition and arbitration testimony on economic damages issues and has testified on economic and financial issues as part of a public utility rate hearing.

He has consulted to clients in numerous industries on issues related to securities, intellectual property, breach of contract, regulatory economics, asset valuation, insurance, accounting, taxation and antitrust. Mr. Malinak also has considerable experience working with financial institutions and in the area of risk management, having been heavily involved, for example, in the Winstar savings and loan litigations, and having also completed a major project on the risk of Fannie Mae. In a non-litigation context, Mr. Malinak has acted as a management consultant to clients in the energy, environmental and health care industries, and as an economic valuation and business strategy consultant to clients with new technology, intellectual property and intangible assets.

Mr. Malinak has held several leadership positions within Analysis Group, including serving on the firm’s 401-K / Retirement Committee, its Administrative Oversight Committee, its Billing Rate Committee, and its Analyst Compensation Committee. He also served for over two years as a member of the Audit Committee of the American Society of International Law.

Mr. Malinak has published articles in industry publications such as IP Litigator and coauthored a book chapter on estimating the cost of capital, published in Litigation Services Handbook: The Role of the Financial Expert. He has presented on legal and economic topics before a variety of audiences, including the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law.

Prior to joining Analysis Group, Mr. Malinak was a Principal at economic consulting firm Putnam, Hayes & Bartlett, Inc.

Mr. Malinak holds an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from the McCombs School of Business, the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.A. in Social Sciences, with distinction, from Stanford University.
