Ghaith Ghabra joined Meridian in 2014 with 15 years of diverse experience with the U.S. Department of State/U.S. Embassy Damascus in various fields (procurement & contracting, travel, and Grants & Program Management). His duties include providing management of assigned grants portfolio, including review of proposals, grant negotiation, awards, compliance monitoring, administration, and close out. He also provides training, guidance and technical assistance to program officers and staff on laws, regulations, and procedures with proper documentation in compliance with federal regulations and other organization’s laws & operating procedures. Ghaith is a graduate with a BA degree in English Literature from Damascus University/English Department and has a post graduate diploma in English/Arabic translation from the same university. He is also an accredited sworn translator of English/Arabic from the Syrian Ministry of Justice. He attended training workshops sponsored by the US. Department of State in various fields (simplified acquisitions, travel regulations, WebPass management) and he has a certificate in monitoring grants & cooperative agreements. Immediately prior to joining Meridian, he was on a six month temporary duty assignment (TDY) at U.S. Embassy Amman, where he worked at the Public Diplomacy Section on various grant management and training issues with some English/Arabic simultaneous translation tasks for cultural & artistic groups.
