CultuREEL: “As One” Film Screening

Embassy of the United Arab Emirates to join U.S. government officials, Senior diplomats, media and policy advocates, and cultural leaders at film screening.

WHAT:

In recognition of National Autism Awareness Month, Meridian International Center, Image Nation Abu Dhabi, and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington, DC, will co-host a screening of the documentary As One: The Autism Project on Thursday, April 7th. This film highlights the children, parents, and teachers involved in The Autism Project, an initiative started by Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi to raise awareness of autism in the United Arab Emirates through the power of theatre, dance, music, and performance. A panel discussion will follow the film, with panelists and guests from the diplomatic corps, the private sector, and academia; including experts in childhood autism, disability services, special education, and art therapy. As One was produced by Image Nation Abu Dhabi, one of the leading media and entertainment companies in the Arabic-speaking world, and is presented as part of Meridian’s “CultuREEL” Film Series.
