In cooperation with Meridian International Center’s exhibit Metropolis Now! A Selection of Chinese Contemporary Art, Meridian aims to provide a seminar on cultural diplomacy, specifically pertaining to the increased importance of the US-China connection. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the normalization of relations between the United States and China, this seminar intends to discuss our current relationship within a cultural context. With recent developments in the last few weeks in the US-China relationship, such as the growing economic crisis and the ties between the US and Chinese economically, and the upcoming visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister to the United States, this discussion will be not only incredibly timely, but also will provide the audience with an understanding that the cultural connection our nations share provides an opportunity for the exchange of ideas.
