Maddie graduated from Emory University in 2008 with a B.A. in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and a minor in Global Health. During the summer of 2007, she worked as a Development Department Intern at Population Action International in Washington, DC. From August to December of that same year, she studied abroad with the School for International Training’s Nicaragua program. Following graduation, she returned to Nicaragua as a Program Director for Manna Project International’s Managua site, where she directed after-school programs for local children and youth, restructured Manna Project’s women’s microfinance program, and co-managed a multi-family child sponsorship program in and around Managua’s municipal dump. She is currently working on an MPH degree in Community-Oriented Primary Care at The George Washington University. Maddie has lived in the Philippines and has traveled extensively in Europe and Asia. She is fluent in Spanish and is familiar with Tagalog.
