The King meets with former President Eisenhower
at the Gettysburg farm.

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, 1963

At Eisenhower’s farm, the King and “Ike” reminisced about the 1959 trip to Kabul and expressed a common interest in animal husbandry. At the conclusion of his stay in America, King Zahir Shah wrote to President Kennedy, “By direct contacts with your people I have profited . . . in better understanding the great American way of life which I have always admired.”
